Process Overview

Red E Innovations, the creator of the MAD Monitor System, will work with your company to create a custom monitoring system to fit your requirements. We can provide expertise every step of the way from researching the initial requirements to supporting you and your customers for generations to come. The first step is to discuss the four main components of custom monitoring design, sensing, powering, communicating and protecting, and how they fit with your product design. From there a digital proof of concept is made and possible problem areas are identified. After approval of the digital proof of concept, several physical proof of concept models are made and tested for base functionality of each component. Once all component functionality is confirmed the necessary firmware is written according to an approved operational functionality flow diagram. Once firmware is completed and tested, limited, and then wide scale test runs will be scheduled, followed by a review and decision to launch or modify.

During the development of the electronic components your enclosure requirements will be considered. If the proper enclosure can not be found among our stock, or through our suppliers, we can aid you in having any required tooling designed and made in order to create the perfect enclosure for your product.

Planning your custom sensor monitoring network may seem like a daunting task but it is really going to come down to four main components.

All four areas must be taken into account for a successful monitoring project.

The first of the four items is Sensing. What exactly are you testing / sensing / monitoring for? Is it water pressence? Vibration outside of normal parameters? Light value or absence? Time period? All of the above? How often do you need to poll each sensor? How often or which parameters will force your monitor to report each sensor's readings so decisions / notifications can be made?

Powering the monitor is the next item on the list. Is the monitor stationary? Can it be plugged directly into power all the time? Part of the time? Will it need a battery? If using a battery, what is the minimum acceptable operational time? Will your power supply be subject to heat, magnetism, vibration, etc.?

Communicating is one of the key components of any monitoring system. Will your targetted installation scenario allow short-range, low-power radios to be used or will there be structural or other radio interference that must be overcome? Is long-range-local communication or 4G/LTE/ cellular communication the best fit for your project. Communication range and power consumption are often the two major competing factors in wireless sensor network design.
